The price of phosphate-based flame retardants has soared this year.
The price of BDP flame retardants for engineering plastics has risen from RMB20,000/ton to RMB31,000/ton since 2019, while the price of TCPP flame retardants for polyurethane has risen from RMB10,000-11,000/ton in the first half of the year to RMB15,000-16,000/ton, according to a research report released by CITIC Construction Investment On September 21.
Both engineering plastics and polyurethanes have seen their prices rise by 50%.
Flame retardants are plastic additives that prevent materials from being ignited and inhibit flame propagation. According to the different elements, flame retardants can be divided into organic halogen, organophosphorus and inorganic types.
Inorganic series flame retardant low efficiency, mainly used in low-end products.
Organic halogenated flame retardants have potential safety hazards. Many halogenated flame retardants have been banned. Efficient and safer phosphorous flame retardants continue to replace their market share.
Phosphorus series flame retardants are divided into engineering plastics and polyurethane.
For the price increase,the relative professor thouht that the EU halogen-free regulations, the development of new energy vehicles, PC capacity expansion and other downstream demand increase, coupled with no new supply, the market is in a state of demand, engineering plastic flame retardants prices have risen significantly;
The rising price of polyurethane flame retardants is mainly due to the rising price of ciprofen and the closure of some production capacity.
