As is known to all, untreated PC boards will degrade and lead to aging if they are used in a natural light environment for a long time.
The aging of the performance of the board will change, which brings trouble to the long-term use of PC board.
In fact, the damage caused by sunlight to polycarbonate is mainly caused by ultraviolet rays.
Accordingly, high grade PC board can put on a layer of exclusive "prevent bask in clothes" -- ULTRAVIOLET ray absorbs agent, namely we often say UV coating.
In general, uv absorbers require strong uv absorption.
In addition, the temperature will rise after the coating absorbs ULTRAVIOLET light, so the uv absorbent is required to have good thermal stability.
Then, the uv absorber should also have good chemical and photochemical stability.
If used in transparent coatings, uv absorbers are also required to be colourless.
At present, the ultraviolet absorption agent on the market basically has the following kinds of types.
UV absorber UV-P
Colorless or light yellow crystals.
Soluble in gasoline, benzene, acetone and other organic solvents.
In the water solubility is very small, not by concentrated alkali, concentrated acid decomposition.
It can be ionized with heavy metals to make salt.
It can absorb ultraviolet radiation of 270 nm ~280nm.
The melting point of 130 ~ 131 ℃.
Mainly used in polyester, polyester containing chlorine, vinegar fiber, PVC, polystyrene.
Plexiglass, polyacrylonitrile and other resins.
The stability in transparent products is better than that in colored products.
UV absorber UV-0
Pale acicular crystal or white powder.
Used in PVC, polystyrene, epoxy resin, cellulose resin, unsaturated polyester, coating and synthetic rubber, etc.
The maximum absorption wavelength range is 280~340nm, but the light stabilization effect of this product is not outstanding.
UV absorber UV-9
Light yellow or white crystalline powder.
Soluble in most organic solvents such as acetone, ketone, benzene, methanol, ethyl acetate, ethyl ketone and ethanol, insoluble in water.
Used for polyvinyl chloride, polyvinylidene chloride, polymethyl methacrylate, unsaturated polyester, cellulose resin and other plastics, the maximum absorption wavelength range is 280~340nm, good thermal stability, almost no absorption of visible light, suitable for light transparent products.
UV absorber UV-531
Light yellow or white crystalline powder.
Soluble in acetone, benzene, ethanol, isopropanol, slightly soluble in dichloroethane, insoluble in water.
It can absorb ultraviolet ray of 270~330nm strongly. It is used in all kinds of plastics, especially polyethylene, polypropylene, polystyrene, ABS resin, polycarbonate. It has good compatibility with resin and low volatility.
With the advent of PC boards, the traditional transparent glass pieces have been gradually replaced.
At the same time, as the use of increasingly diverse and complex environment, PC board also has a long-term resistance to ultraviolet radiation, wear resistance, resistance to heat and humidity, salt spray and other properties.
It is believed that with the blessing of coating technology, PC board will have a broader application space in the future.
